The late Said Moshe, the farmer who inspired the David Moshe vegetable brand, was murdered

The late Sa'id Moshe, the farmer who inspired the successful vegetable brand "David Moshe" that has been operating for decades in the Ma'on region of the western Negev, is among the victims of the Nahal Oz massacre.

Maya Shoshani, Said Moshe's daughter, told Israel Hayom: "Without a doubt, my father's spirit is behind the David Moshe brand, even though it is not his image that was advertised on the company's products. He was a farmer and a major part of potato growing and a potato expert. Everyone who dealt with potatoes knew him, he was a household name."

"My parents lived on Kibbutz Nir Oz from their military service until today. My father was 75 and my mother 72," Shoshani said. "They lived on the kibbutz for decades, and on the morning of October 7, they realized that terrorists had infiltrated the kibbutz. They heard the terrorists outside and saw them from their window, having earlier murdered their neighbor. They immediately entered the safe room and my father even managed to close the door. We were in touch, but at 09:15 A.M. he was cut off. In retrospect, we realized that there were hundreds of terrorists throughout the kibbutz. When the terrorists entered the house and fired at the safe room door. My father was holding the door from the inside, so they couldn't open it, but then they went to the safe room window and fired from there. A bullet came through the door and seriously injured him. My mother was with him and sent a message to the kibbutz people that he had been seriously injured. No one could help and no one from the army was there until 14:00 P.M."

Shoshani added that the terrorists apparently detonated another IED until they managed to open the safe room door. "They fired more bullets at my father,
the safe room was riddled with bullets. The terrorists took my mother through a window, and later someone saw a video of my mother in the Gaza Strip – and two days later they told us that she had been kidnapped," she said.

We transferred the medication she needed, and beyond that we don't know what's going on. My brother also lives on a kibbutz with five small children, they were in dimension, holding the door and waiting for the army. They tried to enter them, open the door, break it down, and they couldn't. My parents' house was completely burned down, except for the dimension that remained. Kibbutz Nir Oz has 400 residents. This is a small kibbutz and almost no house has been skipped. It was simply a terrible massacre and terrible destruction that took place there. It met almost every family on the kibbutz. There are more than 100 abductees, and there are several dozen dead and dozens missing, who are slowly turning out to be dead. These are entire families and they murdered everyone they could reach. You have to understand that an entire community was destroyed and the lives of entire families were destroyed."

She says of her father: "He was a farmer all his life. The entire extended family that came to the kibbutz would enjoy a regular tour of the kibbutz. We would take the potatoes out of the ground with the children and my father would show their children how to pull the potatoes and how to pull out the carrots. The kibbutz is two kilometers from the fence and that's my childhood view. It should be noted that my father was a moderate man, loved man and believed in peace. He works with Bedouins and while Gaza was open with people from Gaza as well."
